Is the fighting game making a comeback? With so many high-profile sequels and remakes in the pipelines, my powers of observation point to... possibly! Like fellow series revival Street Fighter IV, SNK/Playmore's timeless King of Fighters franchise is going full HD for its next version, but unlike the World Warrior set its keeping its sprite-sensabilities intact. The only thing missing has been a proper US release date, and now it looks like the puzzle is nearly complete.
King of Fighters XII is coming home to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2009, hardly surprising given the popularity of the franchise here in North America, but good to know that a release is guaranteed. Publisher Ignition Entertainment claims more info is forthcoming, so keep those twitch-fingers ready to move...
