Sony Announces PlayStation 3 Video Rentals - TONIGHT!

If there's one area that needs some desperate cleaning for the Sony PlayStation 3, it's with downloadable movies.  Despite being part of the famed Sony family, the company hasn't exactly delivered on the promise to bring the best of digital entertainment directly into your living room, via their expensive shiny box.  Well, all that is about to change, and change soon.  How's tonight?

Tonight?  Yes, tonight!  PlayStation 3 owners will definitely want to check their dashboards tonight for all the action, where the company will implement the new movie download features directly and waiting for your digital bucks.  Films will be available in a mix of both HD and SD, with prices ranging from $6 to rent in HD, $4 in SD, and $15 to purchase.  Those looking to collect will definitely want to think about investing in bigger hard drives.

Over 85 different titles will be available, although we don't have the final list yet.  Cloverfield, Reservoir Dogs, and The Eye (the American remake...yuck!) were spotted during the demonstration, but something tells me there will be many, many more.  Movies can take up to an hour to download, and once they're on your PS3 can be transferred directly to your PSP for portable viewing pleasures.  More info as it comes in!
