Rumor Mill: Brett Ratner To Direct God of War Movie
July 26, 2008 by johnlucas

Director Brett Ratner of Rush Hour fame (along with a host of other big budget movies) has been eyed by grapevine gardeners as being selected for directing a long-announced God of War movie based off the so-named PlayStation franchise. The purple fruit from these vines have been chewed upon since May and more fertilizer has been spread upon the ground based on a curious excerpt from an MGM press release.

I know you're dying to see what it is so read on...

Speaking about the stalled, stopped, and restarted new RoboCop film, the press release threw in this left-field mention when mentioning RoboCop screenwriter David Self:

"David Self’s credits include 13 Days and Road To Perdition.  He wrote God of War for Universal, to which Brett Ratner is attached to direct, and was a writer on Universal’s Wolfman currently in production."

Was that persuasion through press release to hopefully get Ratner to participate or was it an official announcement on the sly? If true, I wonder if Ratner can get a Chris Tucker cameo in there as a wiseacre Spartan captain or perhaps a voice actor for one of Cerberus' heads.
