Even with all the soothing laundry detergent colored aesthetics of the Wii, don't think Nintendo has gone tender when it comes to safeguarding their intellectual properties. The red wrath of Yamauchi still rages within the now gentle lamb of the gaming industry. And to show the truth of what I'm saying, Nintendo's suing the pants off of some Japanese companies who enable piracy products to exist on the market.

Not just Nintendo but they and a total of 54 other game developers are taking 5 Japanese firms to court over their involvement in selling devices like "R4 Revolution for DS" (made in China) which allow players to play unauthorized and copied games on their DS's. Tokyo District Court heard the complaints of Nintendo, Sega, Capcom, Namco-Bandai, Square-Enix, SNK, Tecmo, Koei, and Jaleco among many others as the plaintiffs invoked the Unfair Competition Prevention Law; asked for the cessation of selling, marketing, and importing of the devices; and declared that gadgets like these hurt the growth of the entire industry.
Facing lawsuits of their own in the U.S., Nintendo fights legal battles home and abroad over ther breakout success. The price to be king of the hill is steep.
