While many of this year's most enjoyable and critically-acclaimed releases have been successful at retail, so far 2009 has yet to enjoy a title of absolutely and inarguable financial impact, such as last year's best-selling Grand Theft Auto 4 or 2007's Halo 3. That dry spell will likely end with the release of the highly-anticipated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 sequel, due this November for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC platforms. But as we've come to expect from Microsoft's home console, it looks like Xbox 360 fans have a bit more to look forward to. Like, 250GB's more.
Microsoft and MW2 developer Infinity Ward have announced the Limited Edition Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Xbox 360 game console, which publisher Activision will feature a " 'high-speed, low-drag, battle-ready design" and come primed and ready to thrill fans upon the game's official release in November.
Says Vince Zampella, CEO of Infinity Ward:
"It's the highest compliment to the team and our fans to have a special themed Xbox 360 console...The precision and detail that's been put into the console captures the intensity and feel of 'Modern Warfare 2.' We can't wait for our community and fans around the world to see for themselves on Nov. 10."
Indeed, as the newly-minted Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Xbox 360 console will ship with a 250GB Hard Drive, two Xbox 360 Wireless Controllers, as well as an Xbox 360 Headset and a Standard Edition copy of Modern Warfare 2 for $399.99. Activision has stated the console will be available for pre-order later this week, and will be exclusive to Microsoft's console platform. The design follows a series of Xbox 360-exclusive Modern Warfare 2-themed moves, as the console will also feature timed-exclusive downloadable maps through Xbox Live.
