Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City Coming To PS3, PC This March

You probably wouldn't be surprised to hear that Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV sold very, very well on the Xbox 360. Roughly 7.5 million copies, in fact. With that kind of clout, not to mention a hefty exclusivity-fee to publisher Take-Two Interactive, you'd expect to see exclusive content like the two-adventure expansion Episodes from Liberty City Story pop up on the console.

But Grand Theft Auto IV was on other platforms, too. While its difficult to find sales data for the PC version, GTAIV for the PlayStation 3 console sold quite a bit, too. Like a whopping 6.19 million copies, making it among (if not the) best-selling game on Sony's third-generation console. But thanks so said exclusivity deal (see above), Sony fans have been denied the expansions to a franchise that used to be relatively synonymous with their console brand - until now.

That's right, Rockstar Games is bringing Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City to both PlayStation 3 and Games for Windows - Live (PC) fans this March. The announcement seems to confirm online speculation that the two-story expansion adventures for the Xbox 360, originally released last October, was indeed a timed-exclusive for Microsoft's console.

The Lost and Damned is "a dark trip through Liberty City's seedy underbelly as outlaw biker, Johnny Klebitz, fights to keep his gang together as a rift in the gang's leadership threatens to tear the brotherhood apart." The Ballad of Gay Tony will let players "explore Liberty City's high-end nightlife as Luis Lopez, struggling to balance the temptations of money and vice against loyalties to family and friends."

As with the Xbox 360 the two-story expansions will be available in one single-disc form and as individual chapters for download. Single-disc users will be good to go, although those looking to download the expansions individually will need to own a copy of GTAIV. While PlayStation 3 owners will likely be thrilled to finally pick up where the original game left off, PC users will be getting a slew of updates and features unavailable elsewhere, including 32-player online matches, new songs, advanced video editor, and more.

Says Rockstar's Sam Houser:

"It's been a long time coming, but we are proud to finally deliver Episodes From Liberty City for the PC and PlayStation 3...We appreciate the patience of our PlayStation 3 and PC fans worldwide, and we look forward to putting the games in your hands this March."

Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City will be available for both PlayStation 3 and Games for Windows - Live (in addition to Xbox 360) on March 30th.
