Animation fans will be thrilled to see anything from Studio Ghibli's Karigurashi no Arrietty (The Borrower Arrietty), the next film from the animation powerhouse, and based on Mary Norton's series of fantasy novels originally published between 1952 - 1982. The series has been adapted for the screen many times, although fans can expect some light tinkering with the original story and plenty of flourishes that Ghibli is known for.
The Wiki entry for the film states this will be the directorial debut for Hiromasa Yonebayashi, who also has the distinction of being the youngest person to ever direct a project for the studio. But it sounds like The Borrowers is in the right hands, as he's earned his stripes working on projects like Gendo Senki, Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away and most recently, Ponyo.
Given the special relationship Ghibli has with Walt Disney Pictures, we'll probably see an English-language adaptation of this one in the near future (the last being the excellent Ponyo). But who knows when that will be, and until then, enjoy this magical little snippet from the film, accompanied by the GORGEOUS musical arrangement from French harpist/singer Cecile Corbel, who performs the title song for the film. Guaranteed to be the best thing you've heard all day!
