The first movie made trillions (personal estimate) around the world, and if nerdom is as intense as it was then, then there's no doubt that the upcoming robot sequel Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen will be just as much a blockbuster. As with all things these days, look for the videogame version to hit alongside the release of the film, tentatively scheduled for a June 26th, 2009 release date.
Developer Luxoflux (the recently not-awful Kung Fu Panda adaptation) will be pulling double-time to get the interactive sequel ready, for what we can only assume will be a Wii, DS, PS3, PS2, PSP, Xbox 360 and PC release. Plot details (if you can believe them) are as follows:
“The battle for Earth has ended but the battle for the universe has just begun. After returning to Cybertron, Starscream assumes command of the Decepticons, and has decided to return to Earth with force. The Autobots believing that peace was possible finds out that Megatron’s dead body has been stolen from the US Military by Skorpinox and revives him using his own spark. Now Megatron is back seeking revenge and with Starscream and more Decepticon reinforcements on the way, the Autobots with reinforcements of their own, may have more to deal with then meets the eye.”
Assuming this is the story for the game as well, it would seem everything is back in order and much metal-mayhem can proceed as usual. More as it comes in!
