WolfMan Presents Cool Shows You're Not Watching: Kick Buttowski!
March 15, 2010 by wolfman

I wanted to change things up in the blogs once again to talk about a show I recently got into, called Kick Buttowski: Suburban Daredevil. The show was made by Sandro Corsaro, who is a flash animator and Creative Director of Disney Online.  The series follows a kid named Clarence "Kick" Buttowski (voiced by Charlie Schlatter), who aspires to become the world's greatest daredevil with the help of his best friend Gunther (voiced by Matt L. Jones).

Sounds kick butt to you?  If so, there’s more after the jump…

When the show premiered on February 13, 2010 on Disney XD, it had 842,000 viewers, making it the highest rated premiere in Disney XD network history. The show started to catch on to more people, as it had 972,000 viewers by the time the second episode premiered.  The show also has a pretty good voice cast, such Danny Cooksey (Montana Max from Tiny Toon Adventures) as Kick’s older brother Brad, John DiMaggio as Mr. Vickle, and Eric Christian Olsen as Wade.  The series is also executive-produced and directed by Chris Savino (Ren and Stimpy, Dexter’s Laboratory).

I won’t lie, I was ready to hate this show when I first saw previews for it.  But I went on to set my DVR to record it anyway and was pleasantly surprised after watching it.   It’s no Phineas and Ferb, but it’s pretty funny and cool in it’s own way.  There’s just something about it that makes you want to watch it.  Whether it’s Kick trying to save his best friend’s parent’s restaurant from going out of business using his daredevil tricks to put on a show, or chasing his little sister all through a grocery store while destroying it in the process just for a box of cereal, there’s a little fun in it somewhere for everybody.

It’s not the best thing out there, but it’s definitely not the worse either, as you can easily find more wrong on TV nowadays.  I would recommend giving Kick Buttowski a chance to Kick Butt on your funny bone.   I’m sure you’ll find yourself yelling Kick’s catchphrase “Aw Biscuits!” when something goes wrong for him in no time.
