That super website 'o joy 1UP.com not only unleashes the clearest screenshots yet of the upcoming Dead Rising Wii Port, they've also scooped all the good stuff direct from the source (aka translated the recent Famitsu article). Capcom might have missed the E3 boat and effectively had the third biggest "WOW!" of the show by unveiling what many felt was technically impossible, but they're setting things right by showing off the technically impressive and remastered version for Nintendo's waggle-machine. Ladies and Gentlemen, say hello to the absurdly awesome and renamed Dead Rising: Zombie Sacrifice!
Zombie Sacrifice...tell me that just doesn't rock the boat. More details after the jump!
1UP translates just about everything you were looking to hear about the port from the Xbox 360 to the Wii console, including gameplay changes and how new mechanisms will affect gameplay (and with any luck, vastly improve them). While many carry a loving torch for the original, there's no doubt that many elements felt broken or unfinished. Naturally this could mean toning down the original's difficulty levels to match the new audience. From the article:
"The 360 version was hard to get to grips with, in a good way. You died a lot in the beginning, and you have to raise your level if you want to proceed in the story. It's a really fun game if you can deal with that, but I think some of the experience was a little rough for casual users. That's why we're adjusting the game to make it easier to play."
Also gone is one of the original's most poignant features, namely the photographing elements that formed the bulk of the strange gameplay. Because the Wii version will utilize a new camera system (inspired by the Resident Evil 4 Wii port), their chucking the camera altogether in favor of a more action/object oriented game. Also going the way of the dodo is the original's time-lapsed gameplay system, which many (including yours truly) put undue stress and coupled with the most insanely ineffective save-game device of all-time, helped crumble any incentive to get past the first few maddening hours. Will the Wii version have these cumbersome points? How about making the game playable on SDTV's? We shall see...
With Dead Rising: Zombie Sacrifice and Sega's Mad World on the way to the litlte console, it seems that the Wii is finally getting some much-needed doses of the red stuff. Capcom seems well aware of the visual degradation the visually-stunning original will have to undergo in its journey to Wii Land, but seem to think that Wii owners are inherently accomodating to such things. They are, trust me. Still, the first available shots do look quite stunning considering the hardware and not at all as bad as you think they could've turned out. Capcom is known for performing miracles on this hardware, so let's hope for another one.
Big thanks to 1UP for all the hard work (you guys make it look so easy), and don't forget to check out the source and see all the spooky, blurred-up zombie action for yourselves right HERE!!
