CES 2011: Snakebyte Offers PlayStation Move and Navigation Controller Alternatives
January 17, 2011 by namreh

Snakebyte (by way of Sunflex USA) is looking to expand their territory of third-party gaming accessories and peripherals here in the States, and while we've covered many of their products in the past, I couldn't help but feel their showing at this year's CES was more than a little ‘Moving', as the company showed/didn't show off their plans to give would-be PlayStation Move fans a bit more choice in the market.

Third-party PlayStation Move controllers and even a little Snake-Eye action? You bet, and see all of them for yourselves after the jump!

Snakebyte's third-party alternatives (which have still yet to be named) all sport the same layouts as their Sony counterparts, with slight changes to the ergonomics and an overall ‘grippy' feel that we're starting to expect from Snakebyte. The Snake-Eye camera (which replaces Sony's EyeToy camera) follow suit, although the company is promising their version will have an extended 10 meter connector cable (opposed to the EyeToy's anemic 1.5 meters) and instant support for flat screen TV mounts.

I want to be clear that while these mysterious controllers and Move alternatives were technically on the floor, they weren't on display, and Snakebyte is still being pretty tightlipped about when they might be released here in the States and what the final designs will look like. With the Move selling surprisingly briskly, there's definitely room for third-parties in the growing field of PlayStation 3 motion-controls, and Snakeybyte's stylish offerings will definitely be on my watch list.
