Well here's a nice surprise. One of the very best games that was ever released for Sega's 32-Bit Saturn console is about to make a long, long overdue comeback via the Xbox 360 as Treasure's Guardian Heroes is coming to XBLA this fall. While a spin-off game was made available for Nintendo's Gameboy Advance, this marks the first time the original sprite-filled action/RPG has returned to a home console since it was originally released back in 1996, and will feature new and 'improved' visuals, online multiplayer with an astonishing 12 players at once. For those who may not know, the original supported a massive 6-player versus mode for those willing to invest in the necessary Saturn-specific adapters/controllers to make it work.
No word yet if Guardian Heroes is also set to touchdown on Sony's PlayStation 3 via PSN yet, but given the online-friendly nature of the original I wouldn't rule it out. Honestly, as long as they keep that incredible soundtrack intact, I'll be happy man. Look for the new (and improved?) Guardian Heroes to resurrect its pure awesomeness on XBLA later this year
