Street Fighter IV For Nintendo Wii 'Doable' Say Capcom

1UP.com recently held a little chit-chat with Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono at this year's Leipzig Games Convention about the upcoming fighter which many have pegged (however unfairly) as the savior of not only the fighting game genre, but possibly the arcade market as a whole.  Essentially, putting the same pressures of the fourth to achieve the superlatives of the second.  Talk of secret characters (Shen Long!) and development duties abound, and if you pay attention a backhand acknowledgment of the universal distaste of the Xbox 360 controller for fighters.

Towards the end things get really interesting towards the end when the topic turns to the much-rumored appearance of the game for Nintendo's console, which despite its fancy-pants graphics and flashy colors has always seemed quite doable for the platform.  As it turns out, its extremely doable and possibly in the cards.  Here's an excerpt from the piece:

"Yeah, it's definitely true that we've had a lot of requests for a port for the Wii. And it's definitely doable. We just don't have any plans for it yet, that's all. If we feel strongly enough that it would sell, I'd imagine we'd do it...Going back to my philosophy for Street Fighter, the game is essentially a tool, not just a unique piece of entertainment. I think of it like Chess; that game can be played anywhere. As long as people want to play Street Fighter 4, it could be on anything -- even this iPhone...It really could be on any platform that could support it. So let's just see what happens."

Capcom's been something of a savior for many Wii owners of late, providing some of the best and most grounded non-party games for Nintendo's machine, and that love doesn't look likely to end anytime soon.  Plus, given the long history of porting Street Fighter games to practically every platform known to man (Amiga and Gameboy, anyone?) I'd bet cash-money that we'll be seeing the World Warriors glorious return hit the waggle-machine in the near future... hopefully with less waggle.

So if you can brave Sam Kennedy's excretable interviewing style (lay off the slang and expletives, dude) its actually a good read, if only to help marinate in even more Street Fighter IV-related news.  Big UPS (no pun intended) for the source, and let's get that release date for the Xbox 360 and PS3 version grounded, boys!  Check out the whole she-bang right HERE!
