Want a preview of holiday season madness? Then check out Nintendo. The home of Hyrule managed to produce enough Wiis for the stores that 800,000 of them were sold during the week of Thanksgiving! AMAZING! This record was definitely a result of Nintendo making sure to have enough stock for that infamous Friday after the holiday. And by the way, this figure is over DOUBLE last year's amount of Wiis during same time span (350,000). Oh, not to forget, DS sales went up about 20% during that Thanksgiving week. Figures brought to you by Nintendo President and Chief Executive Officer, Satoru Iwata.

Speaking of Iwata, listen to him explain this strange phenomenon in an interview with Reuters:
"When the economy is strong, people tend to buy three things from the top of their wish list. But when things are bad, people often buy only the first thing on their list. Fortunately for us a lot of shoppers put our products at the top of their list."
Quite a compliment for sure. All this is shocking considering the overall financial climate resulting from the recession and the resulting lackluster patronage of customers. According to commerce tracker the International Council of Shopping Centers, the average U.S. retailer saw a 2.7% decline in sales comparing this November to the last one year-on-year. The ICSC says this is the biggest monthly drop since they've begun tracking this information at their formation in 1969.
With the Xbox 360 also rumored to have put up some serious Black Friday numbers, November's NPDs will be nothing short of mind-shattering. Whew.
