Oboromuramasa, or Muramasa: The Demon Blade is an upcoming title for the Wii via Vanillaware and Marvelous Entertainment, of Odin Sphere fame. This Japanese overview trailer presents a myriad of gorgeous, hand-drawn graphics directly mirroring the unique art style we saw in Odin Sphere. Judging by this trailer, Muramasa should showcase a varied mix of exploration, brawling, and RPG mechanics that work together to create a symphony of satisfying gameplay. One fatal flaw that did plague Odin Sphere was its excessive amounts of slowdown when there was too much action or too many enemies onscreen, so that the action would slow to a crawl. However, that was on the PlayStation 2 and this will be coming out for the Wii, so hopefully that type of hindrance won't plague the spritual successor.
The game has already been released in Japanese to a favorable review score - it received a 34/40 from Famitsu, who cited that it had great graphics, fantastic sound, even difficulty, but no real climax to the ending. All signs point to an American release of 2009, but an exact date has yet to be released.
