The report quotes Moore saying the Facebook version of Madden would be a "simpler" experience than its console counterparts, and given the platform itself, free to play. No doubt EA Sports is drooling over the prospect of linking their lucrative Madden franchise, a perennial best-seller, into Facebook's 400 million (and growing) userbase. EA has already staking their claim into this fertile digital soil, ponying up $400 million for casual-online gaming developer Playfish, Inc. last year.
EA has yet to announce a release date, or any details about the upcoming Facebook version of Madden Football. Given the massive success of Facebook-compatible online games like "Farmville", "Petville", and "Mafia Wars", there are several questions that Madden fans (or potential convertees) would like to know about the new version. How much (if any) of the original game's strategic elements remain, and will micro-transactions be involved for those looking for longer play sessions?
And about the actual name...Maddenville? Madden Wars? The possibilities are endless...
