Now before you go clicking away towards some sexier story, hold the phone. No, it may not have much to do with the classic Sleeping Beauty, and much more to do with a certain mermaid, but the upcoming documentary detailing Walt Disney Animation's return from certain doom looks just as enchanting. Waking Sleeping Beauty looks to tell the true story of how the Mouse House almost went belly up, and how a certain group of characters (John Lasseter, Tim Burton, Roy Disney, Jeffery Katzenberg, amother others) helped salvage the ship and steer it right.
While I've been dying to see some of this behind-the-scenes footage for awhile, it seems somewhat awkward to release a documentary film about the 'rise of Disney' that focuses on the last regime, which was to (again) completely collapse, and is only currently being rebuilt with the likes of Pixar and the return to traditional feature, The Princess and the Frog.
Timing aside, it really looks like Waking Sleeping Beauty will be one for animation fans to watch out for when it hits theaters on March 26th. Until then, head on over to the official Apple site and check out the trailer right HERE!
