LittleBigPlanet Getting Web-Based Level-Sharing System Soon

Of all its key achievements, perhaps there is none more important to Media Molecule's LittleBigPlanet than its intuitive, yet powerful set of tools for level-creation.  While Sony may put the kibosh on many of the 'saucier' creations out there, the vast majority of fan-created original content for the game have thrilled players in both their scope and originality, helping give the platformer legs and replayability long after most have been abandoned to second-hand shops.

But what of the actual sharing itself? One trip through LBP's navigation system and you'll seen be bombarded with an almost overwhelming amount of options, and that's IF you know what you're looking for. Thankfully, the company has plans to help creators share their creations with fans and players in a more streamlined, easier fashion. Media Molecule co-founder Alex Evans recently sat down with gaming website 1UP.com to discuss the company's plans to introduce a web-based level sharing portal, which would allow players to better advertise and share their original projects with fans and the public.

Rather than share directly, says Evans, players will be able to use the portal to craft unique URLs to their creations, which will allow users to queue the content and then download them directly onto their PlayStation 3 console the next time they log in. Evans claims this system will also give creators better flexability in advertising and publicizing levels, and will (possibly) work in conjuction with new API (application programming interfaces) the company is planning to introduce soon for more LBP-related promotional use.

Evans is also hinting that even more features are coming to their popular game, and will introduce more beta-testing in the future to help iron out (whatever) bugs for their final release.  It certainly looks as though big things are in the works for fans of LittleBigPlanet, so be on the look-out for more updates and surprises as they come in!
