Despite the fact that part XIII isn't even out, Sony wasted no time in pulling one of their biggest guns with the announcement of Final Fantasy XIV is on the way to the PlayStation 3...and only PlayStation 3. And its online.

With Microsoft scoring the console world's biggest RPG last year with Final Fantasy XIII, Sony took the 2009 E3 as a good time to poke fun at their current-generation rival (not to mention chance to throw the "exclusive" tag around) with the next chapter of Square-Enix's popular franchise. Look for the game to be an MMO-RPG, much in the vein of their own Final Fantasy XI, which we assume includes an online monthly subscription fee.
