After Tom Cruise and Paramount had their disagreements and parted ways shortly after Mission Impossible 3 was released, it was for certain there would never be a MI4.

But leave it to J.J. Abrams to once again revive a franchise and turn it into a blockbuster hit, such as he did with the recent Star Trek film.   Abrams and Cruise will both produce the film, though Abrams won't direct and it is unknown if Cruise with play Ethan Hunt, or will pass the role to another actor.  I'm sure Paramount will do whatever it takes to make sure Abrams delivers another blockbuster for the studio.  No word on a release date, but we will post more info as it comes.   Thanks to The Hollywood Reporter!
