July 15, 2008 by mruniversal

Who needs first-person shooting when you've got amazing THIRD-person, instead?  With nearly every action-smash on the horizon opting for the perspective made popular by a certain 'survial horror' game a few years back, Sony's portable Resistance Retribution indeed looks to gain a whole new set of gameplay options from the choice.

E3 08: Smoking Hot New Street Fighter IV Trailer!
July 15, 2008 by mruniversal

Time to party like its 1991 all over again!  I never get tired of seeing these classic Street Fighter II characters strutting their stuff, and I think Capcom knows it.  If the math holds up (ME x 1,000,000 + Nostalgia), then we could be looking at the next big fighting game all over again.  No superfluous booby shots, no up-skirts, no nothing except good, solid gameplay waiting for those willing and at the ready.  Does it have cheesy voiceovers?  What Street Fighter doesn't?  Cheesy voices?  Essential.

July 15, 2008 by johnlucas

Everybody's favorite underdog, Atari, seeks to try out increasing their fortunes with a new cooking game for the DS. It's called What's Cooking? with Jamie Oliver and the name attached belongs to 33-year old British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver also known as The Naked Chef (not for his lack of clothing but his simplicity of his recipes, you dirty minded gutter folk).

Reggie Fils-Aime: Not Satisfied with $5 Billion Sales
July 15, 2008 by johnlucas

No doubting that Nintendo's on a roll. Big bank made under the era of the WiiDS Phenomenon—their twin terrors of videogame commerce on a serious world domination tip. But too much is simply not enough for some people. Take one Reggie Fils-Aime affectionately known as The Regginator. Even with the company's dynamic duo pulling in a life-to-date combined total of over 5 Oprahs or $5 billion in revenues (enough money for the gross domestic product of some countries), the American branch president and chief operating officer looked beyond the record figures for higher ground for the future.

You know you wanna see what The Reggulator says next...

E3 '08: LittleBigPlanet Ready For The Fall, We Think...
July 15, 2008 by namreh

LittleBigPlanet

One of the more appealing events at the Sony press conference had to be their interesting take on providing financial figures thanks in part to LittleBigPlanet, from how many units were moved to announcing their greatest hits lineup all done in a loveable platforming style that personally stole the show for me.

While Tretton didn't give a hard date to follow he did give the crowd a hint relating to October, sure it might not be the original release of September or even a solid date but it's something right?

Iwata Says: Nintendo Helped Break Seasonal Sales Rut

Understatement of the year was uttered by Nintendo president Satoru Iwata today at the E3 Media and Business Summit in Los Angeles today. Backed by 4 years of market savvy proven right, Iwata talked about what he called the "evergreen" nature of titles like Nintendogs, Brain Age, Mario Kart DS and the like forever changing the way the market operates.

E3 '08: Single Sign-in For Sony PSN
July 15, 2008 by namreh

If you've been thinking about taking the plunge into the realm of PS3 or PSP you might be enticed by what's around the corner for your content gouching needs, as all PlayStation owners will now have an all-convenient approach with PSN accounts that can be used whenever or wherever.

Yep, you'll now be able to migrate sign-in info from either your PS3, PSP, and PC in which Sony's Jack Tretton describes as a effort to ease user migration from their PS2 into some brand new consoles.

Tretton also crunched numbers regarding the advantages stating that people downloaded 20 million pieces of content from PSN last month, with with a reputable amount of 180 million downloads since the PS3 launch back in 2006. Not the type to lay down in the face of "certain" competition Tretton also said "We're not interested in filling up our stores with titles no one wants to play just so we can say we have the most."

Well played Jack.

E3 2008: Guitar Hero: On Tour Decades Unveiled DS
July 15, 2008 by johnlucas

Wait a minute. Didn't a DS version of Guitar Hero just come out? So why are we hearing about this new upcoming selection called Guitar Hero: On Tour Decades? I suppose it's because according to the N-team this June's Guitar Hero: On Tour sold 300,000 copies in its 1st week.

The ukulele-gripped version of the guitar go-getter has an enhancement that allows songs from Decades to be transferable to another player even if they have a different version of the game. And you won't have to wait long for it, either, because it's coming out this fall.

You know with all these Guitar Heroes ready to strum I could build me a KISS Army. They could function like the National Guard for Detroit Rock City. Ha! I got puns for decades.

E3 08: Sony Announces Massive Action Game (MAG) For PS3
July 15, 2008 by mruniversal

Sony introduces their newest property today, by way of Zipper Interactive, in the for of the massively, massively, multi-player tactical action game MAG (Massive Action Game).  Think you've seen massive?  Brother, you haven't seen anything yet, as MAG aims to put a (wait for it) massive 256 different players inside one, big world.  There aren't egos big enough for this type of action.  With so much action and so many players, this could easily become the SOCOM: MMO that nerds and friends have dreamed about...!

256 player and 1 world...can you imagine the chaos?  Its like Counterstrike times ten!  Although a small trailer for shown, it was all disappointing CG action, and zero gameplay.  Seriously guys...get with the program!  Didn't you learn anything from the Killzone 2 debacle?  When you're going to brag about a new game being only possible on the PS3, how about showing me some PS3 gameplay!!  CG-action?  Brother, my DS can handle that!

Still, game could be cool...more details as they trickle in!
